We’re tremendously excited to share with you that the Center for Financial Empowerment (the CFE), which SCE FCU founded in 2005, was named a Nonprofit of the Year at the annual Nonprofits Day luncheon in Sacramento on June 6th.
Financial literacy isn’t trendy and doesn’t necessarily pull at your heart strings like many other social issues do. However, the impact is enormous. When we fail to teach financial literacy the result is often poverty. When we do impart this kind of knowledge the result is often success.
The new school year brings new opportunities for the non-profit founded by the Credit Union to reach more students with money smart financial skills. At the end of August, that nonprofit – the Center for Financial Empowerment (CFE) – hosted Mad City Money RECHARGED, a live demonstration and networking event for educators in Southern California.
