Save the date! Giving Tuesday, November 27th, is a global day of giving. It comes soon after Thanksgiving, the day many of us celebrate the things we’re thankful for. Is there a better way to show your appreciation than by giving back during this charitable season?
We’re tremendously excited to share with you that the Center for Financial Empowerment (the CFE), which SCE FCU founded in 2005, was named a Nonprofit of the Year at the annual Nonprofits Day luncheon in Sacramento on June 6th.
Financial literacy isn’t trendy and doesn’t necessarily pull at your heart strings like many other social issues do. However, the impact is enormous. When we fail to teach financial literacy the result is often poverty. When we do impart this kind of knowledge the result is often success.
The new school year brings new opportunities for the non-profit founded by the Credit Union to reach more students with money smart financial skills. At the end of August, that nonprofit – the Center for Financial Empowerment (CFE) – hosted Mad City Money RECHARGED, a live demonstration and networking event for educators in Southern California.

Ever wonder what teenagers really learn from adults about money?
The Center for Financial Empowerment, the nonprofit founded by the Credit Union, wants to know what high school students actually think after participating in one of our financial learning events. So we ask them! Their responses are brutally honest, sometimes hilarious, and always enlightening.
Financial literacy education is a trending concept these days. The recent recession was a wake-up call, making financial literacy training a sought-after resource for schools, colleges and social service agencies.
At SCE FCU, there are few things more exciting than empowering people through financial education! With the start of the new school year, the nonprofit founded by the Credit Union is busy doing just that for high school students. Check out where SCE FCU and the Center for Financial Empowerment will be empowering teens this fall!
